Workshop on "Public Procurement of Innovation - Institutional Framework and Practical Applications"
The Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH) in cooperation with the Local Government Association (LGA) of Western Macedonia organized on June 7th 2022, the workshop (in hybrid mode) titled "Public Procurement of Innovation - Institutional Framework and Practical Applications".
Purpose of the workshop was on the one hand to provide comprehensive information on innovation procurement (IP), its concept, the types, as well as the tools and techniques of its planning, award, execution and financing. On the other hand, to mainstream IP by joining public procurers and innovative enterprises, including start-ups/SMES.
In addition, the event provided lessons learned from the Prominent MED project and beyond.
Regarding its format, the event was divided into two sessions:
Session 1 was targeting the legal framework and the mobilization through the needs’ identification of the demand side (public authorities).
Session 2 was targeting the mobilization through practical applications of IP on the offer side (solution providers).
The Conclusions were related to the win-win situation for the public and private sector, the extensive EU funding possibilities but also to the implications and scarcity of the national incentives and funding scheme.
